Spurs star Harry Kane is being linked to Barca, but a report from Spain has claimed PSG ace Neymar wants a return to his old club.

Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur looks on during the UEFA Champions League Group B match between FC Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur at Camp Nou on December 11, 2018 in Barcelona, Spain.

The opening of the January transfer window is just a week away, which means one thing – the rumour mill is starting to spin especially fast.

Tottenham Hotspur, with a bevy of world class talent at their disposal, often find themselves targeted by speculation linking their key staff with moves away.

In terms of players, Harry Kane tends to come under the most intense speculation with regards to joining another club – and given his talent and superb goalscoring record, it’s little surprise.

Real Madrid are said to be interested in the England striker, if a November report in Spanish outlet OK Diario is anything to go by, though Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi is believed to be top of their wishlist.

Los Blancos’ La Liga rivals Barcelona have also been linked with Kane, with the Daily Star publishing a story earlier in December saying the Blaugrana are looking for a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez and deeming the Tottenham hotshot to be a good heir.

However, you’d think Barca would theoretically leave Kane be if they were able to get their hands on another forward – one who has already played for them, perhaps? One of the most marketable names in world football too?

According to Spanish outlet AS, Neymar’s representatives are ‘constantly’ calling Barca to try and engineer a return for the Brazil international, who swapped Camp Nou for Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.

Although Neymar is rumoured to have a clause in his contract which stipulates he can join another club in 2020 for a 215 million Euro fee (Sport), he could leave earlier if a buying club can negotiate and arrange a deal on ‘friendly terms’ with PSG, for a higher fee.

As a result, if Neymar and Barca rekindle their mutual interest in each other as reported, would that put an end to speculation linking Kane to the Catalan side? Many Spurs fans will surely hope so.
