Recent reports, by the likes of talkSPORT, have linked Christian Eriksen with a move away from Spurs this summer, but the club must do all they can to ensure that doesn’t happen.
The Dane reportedly rejected Tottenham’s latest contract terms – as claimed by the London Evening Standard – leading to speculation that Daniel Levy could look to offload him before the close of the window to avoid a situation where he is in his final year of contract next summer and Spurs’ bargaining power is severely reduced.
The Standard claim that the 24-year old is currently earning around £30,000 a week and in the current market, for a player of his quality, that is exceptionally low.

Eriksen is one of the most effective attacking midfielders in the Premier League and despite accusations of inconsistency, he produces some of the best numbers in terms of goals and assists.
He provided 13 assists and six goals in the league last season – only bettered by Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil – and losing him would be a massive blow to Tottenham’s creative abilities.

Aside from raw numbers, Eriksen acts as a metronome in Spurs’ midfield and regularly drops deep to collect the ball and launch attacks.
He is among the most technically gifted in the squad and has an eye for a pass like no other in Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

For all his ability going forward, the Danish international also works hard the other way, helping Danny Rose out on the left flank and consistently ranking among the team’s top performers in terms of distance covered.
Spurs will struggle to find a replacement that can adapt quickly and produce the kind of quality Eriksen does without spending silly money, and Levy must ensure he persuades one of the league’s most underrated players to call White Hart Lane home for a little longer.
