Tottenham Hotspur were linked with Ezequiel Garay while Juande Ramos was in charge.
According to a report The Sunday Mirror (print edition, page 61, July 9, 2017), Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Ezequiel Garay from Valencia this summer.
Spurs are believed to be considering making a move for Garay, with Mauricio Pochettino looking to improve his defensive options.
However, now is not the right time for Spurs to be making a move for the experienced defender.
According to the Telegraph, Tottenham wanted Garay when Juande Ramos was in charge.
At that stage, it made sense for Spurs to be moving for Garay – who still had years left in his career.
But Tottenham have moved on now, and they have left the Argentine defender behind.
Put simply, Tottenham need better than Garay if they are to compete for the Premier League title.
And although Spurs may have had a long-standing interest in the Argentine international, if Garay was brought in this summer, it would have to go down as a disappointing signing.
