Arsenal were linked with signing Abel Hernandez earlier this week, it won’t be happening now.
If Arsenal thought they were unfortunate with Theo Walcott sustaining an injury on international duty with England, spare a thought for Italian side Palermo.
The Serie A side are still reeling from the news that their star striker Abel Hernandez has ruptured his cruciate on international duty with Uruguay.
It puts to bed talk of him signing for Arsenal, as had been rumoured earlier this week.
He had suffered with injuries in the past, and the knee injury is a real blow for the 22-year-old striker, who sustained the injury in training.
He could now be out for anywhere between six months and the beginning of the 2013/14 season, but he certainly won’t be available for transfer in the January transfer window that’s for sure.
It caps a frustrating start the the season for the player, who had yet to score in seven Serie A matches this season.
Safe to say he can be crossed off Wenger’s shortlist.
