West Ham United only signed Mohammed Kudus to sell him for more money later down the line.

That is according to former West Ham player John Paintsil, who has been speaking to Ghanaian outlet Graphic.

What exactly has John Pastil said about West Ham and Mohammed Kudus?

On Mohammed Kudus‘ move to the London Stadium, Pastil claimed: “He is a young player, that’s why they signed him for five years. West Ham don’t sign players like that.

“Before, they will give you that number of years, it means they’ve seen something in you, and they know that in two or three years’ time, they can market him and make more money.”

Kudus was a big signing for West Ham during the summer transfer window, arriving from Ajax in a £38m deal.

The 23-year-old left the Dutch club in style, scoring a hat-trick in his final game for them, which came in a Europa League qualifier against Ludogorets.

David Moyes will now be hoping that Kudus can replicate that kind of performance at the London Stadium.

Mohammed Kudus can make a huge impact for West Ham

Even if West Ham have signed Kudus with the view of selling him for profit in a few years, the Ghanaian can still be extremely useful for the east London club on the pitch.

Kudus is a very versatile attacker, able to play out wide, behind the striker and up top. He can be deployed in midfield as well, which is another bonus for Moyes.

Most importantly, though, the Ghana international can find the back of the net, as he showed against Ludogorets not too long ago.

Whatever their reasoning was, West Ham bringing in Kudus was a no-brainer. They have started this season really well, beating both Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion, and should improve as a side with the addition of Kudus.
