Tottenham Hotspur’s players had a major impact on helping England through to the next round of the World Cup.

On the biggest of occasions, in the most pressurised of environments, it wasn’t just England who came good in Moscow – it was Tottenham Hotspur too.
England beat Colombia on penalties last night, to finally win a shoot-out at a World Cup and the Tottenham players’ importance to the victory shouldn’t be overlooked.

The Spurs trio of Harry Kane, Kieran Trippier and Eric Dier all showed great courage to step up to the spot from 12 yards, and every one of the them converted.

For too long Spurs have been accused of being ‘bottlers’ by rival fans, but that accusation can no longer be attributed to their players.
Kane, Trippier and Dier all stepped up and dispatched their penalties with great confidence and assurance to prove that they had the stomach for the biggest of all tests.

The whole of England owes a debt of gratitude to Tottenham now, as without their players the mood across the country could have been very different this morning.
