Earlier today, the UK Government announced sanctions for Russian Oligarch Roman Abramovich, which has caused major issues for Chelsea.

The Blues are no longer able to sell players, offer new contracts, or even sell tickets to supporters – even the club shop at Stamford Bridge has been closed.

In a much less significant way, Crystal Palace and Everton could also be affected by the sanctioning of Abramovich.

What’s the story?

Well, the Eagles and the Toffees aren’t going to be forced to stop trading, although they may now have to give up hope of signing Conor Gallagher.

It was TEAMtalk who claimed that Frank Lampard had already held talks with his former club over a deal for the 22-year-old sensation.

Elsewhere, Football London revealed that Crystal Palace hope to turn Gallagher’s season-long loan at Selhurst Park into a permanent deal.

With Chelsea unable to trade, that means nobody will be leaving Stamford Bridge this summer as things stand, unless their contracts are set to expire.

That will presumably upset the south Londoners more than the Merseysiders, as Crystal Palace have grown to love Gallagher.

The England international is a firm favourite to win their Player of the Season award, having scored eight goals – while also providing five assists – in 28 appearances.

Roman Abramovich sanction isn’t be all and end all

At the moment, Chelsea are being punished due to their association with Abramovich.

However, if the 55-year-old allows the Government to take control of the Blues and oversee the sale of the club, then things will start to return to normal for the west Londoners, according to The Telegraph.

As things stand, all trading at Chelsea is being ceased, as Abramovich would profit from it.

If a new owner takes the reins soon, then Crystal Palace and Everton would be able to make a move for Gallagher this summer – only time will tell what happens.
