Dean Ashton has made it clear that West Ham shouldn’t re-sign Marko Arnautovic, as he told the Football Show on Sky Sports (06/01/21 at 12:40 pm).

The Mirror paper edition (03/01/21, page 72) recently claimed that David Moyes is keen to bring back the forward to West Ham.

Arnautovic thrived under Moyes’ stewardship at the London Stadium, but he left with a dark cloud hanging over his head after forcing a move to the Chinese Super League.

But Ashton wasn’t having any of Arnautovic returning to West Ham given how he conducted himself towards his final few months at the club.

“No, why the heck would they want Arnautovic back,” questioned Ashton. “I thought he conducted himself terribly at the end of his West Ham career.

“Clearly chasing the money and okay good ability and had a really good run as well under David Moyes, who I thought got the best out of him and got him working really hard for the team alongside his qualities.

“But I am sorry, the way he conducted himself I don’t think there’s one West Ham supporter that would want to see him back, especially the kind of character David Moyes has got within the group.

“I think sometimes if you do something like he did, like the way he was and the agent then I think there’s no real coming back from that.”

West Ham could go down a better route than Arnautovic and they should push that boat well and truly out of their own waters.

It’s depth in quality that West Ham need and they would rather provide that chance to a younger player with potential.

Whether he is purchased or he comes from within, West Ham are on a high at the moment and they don’t need someone like Arnautovic, who disrespected the badge before he left, to come back.
