With Aston Villa manager-less, is the best option Steve Bruce?

Former Hull City boss Steve Bruce has to be the best option if Aston Villa want to find their way back to the Premier League.
Bruce, without a club since leaving Hull in July, is favourite to replace Roberto Di Matteo, who was sacked by the Championship club on Monday.
The former Manchester United defender has a fantastic record in getting sides out of the Championship after helping Birmingham City twice and Hull City once regain a place in the Premier League.

Villa are in need of someone to steady the ship who has the experience of how to deal with the pressures of managing a side that is expected to go straight back up and has knowledge of the Championship in general.
No doubt this current side are still suffering from the hangover of last season, you can see it in the results and performances with the naivety of last minute goals conceded and a lack of leadership on the field.
Despite Roberto di Matteo managing Chelsea to an FA Cup and Champions League glory, he came into that Chelsea dressing room with leaders wanting to put things right with the likes of John Terry, Petr Cech, Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and Ashley Cole, it was slightly easier to say the least.

Villa is a different proposition, a club that has suffered with disinterest off the pitch with the on field issues having a knock-on effect meaning players’ standards and performances have dropped significantly. Questions would be asked as to whether Di Matteo was ever the right man for the job.
His calm and composed manner hasn’t worked, it probably never was going to work. It’s clear to see that Villa as a club need a manager who knows the league as well as get given respect from the players given his track record.
Despite all the on-goings with a suspected takeover at Hull City, the 55-year-old was still able to gain promotion back to the top flight with Hull last term via the play-offs showing he can still work under huge amounts of scrutiny and pressure above him.
Bruce may not be a household name but he certainly has all the tools to guide this under-performing Villa side back to the Premier League. Isn’t it about time Villa put their faith in someone tried and trusted rather than all the predecessors such as Tim Sherwood, Remi Garde and Roberto Di Matteo?
