Are Tottenham really making the right decision stepping aside and allowing Chelsea to sign Ross Barkley from Everton for £15m?

It looks as if Chelsea are finally going to sign Ross Barkley, with the BBC reporting that a £15m deal has been agreed for the Everton midfielder.

Barkley turned down a deadline day switch to Stamford Bridge over the summer, with the Mirror reporting at the time that the England international favoured a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

However, the Evening Standard now reports that Spurs have cooled their interest in the 24-year-old, preferring to focus their attention elsewhere, leaving their West London rivals with the chance to swoop in.

Yet is this a decision that Tottenham could live to regret? Especially as it seems as if Barkley would have much preferred to play under Mauricio Pochettino than Antonio Conte.

After all, the current Toffees star’s preferred position of central midfield is somewhere that Pochettino is experiencing some problems in currently.

While Eric Dier remains a solid performer and Harry Winks is improving all the time, Moussa Sissoko does not look up to the task and Mousa Dembele has plummeted down the pecking order for similar reasons and has recently been linked with a move to AC Milan by the Daily Mail as a result.

Barkley is young and still has much to offer and in the current financial climate in football is leaving Goodison Park for a minimal fee, so are the North Londoners making the right decision with this u-turn?
