The Arsenal winger is set to join Manchester United.

If, as expected, Alexis Sanchez completes his move from Arsenal to Manchester United, the Chilean will be aiming to emulate Robin Van Persie, who won the Premier League title after making the switch to Old Trafford.
Sanchez will, however, be determined to have a lengthier stay at United than Van Persie, who spent three seasons at the club following his switch from Arsenal in 2012.
Van Persie was 29 when he joined United, the same age as Sanchez, but there is a feeling that the latter would be able to make an impact for an extended period if he does sign.

Having played an integral part in helping United to win the Premier League title in the 2012/13 season as he scored 26 goals in the top flight, Van Persie’s effectiveness dropped considerably thereafter as he scored 12 and 10 goals respectively in the following two campaigns.
The Dutchman became slower and significantly less productive, although United’s decision to sign him was certainly justified by his initial contribution.
While Sanchez hasn’t been at his best for Arsenal this season and has been a source of frustration at times by frequently squandering possession, he has still managed to make an impact by scoring seven goals in the Premier League.

Sanchez’s determination makes him an ideal player for Mourinho and there is little question about the contribution that he has made at Arsenal, having scored 80 goals and provided 46 assists in 166 games.
One of Sanchez’s key traits is that he is always seeking to improve and is never satisfied. At United, under Mourinho’s guidance and with Paul Pogba playing precise passes into his path, he should thrive.
Mourinho will demand the best from Sanchez and will be hopeful that the winger can quickly rediscover top form and make an impact for United for several seasons to come.
