With Allardyce back in the spotlight, many are keen to know more about his brief stint in charge of England.
So, how long was Allardyce England manager and why did he lose his job? Let’s take a look…
How long was Sam Allardyce England manager?
Well, the Dudley-born tactician lasted just 67 days in charge of England.
Allardyce managed just one game for the Three Lions in that time.

The 68-year-old oversaw a 1-0 win against Slovakia in a qualifier for the 2018 World Cup thanks to a 95th-minute winner from Adam Lallana.
Allardyce had previously described the England role as his “dream job” before he was chosen to replace Roy Hodgson.
Why did Sam Allardyce lose the England job?
Allardyce lost his job in charge of the Three Lions after he held a meeting with undercover reporters who were posing as businessmen, before he took charge of his first England training session.
As detailed by the Telegraph, Allardyce admitted that it was “not a problem” to ignore rules on third-party player ownership and claimed he knew of agents who were “doing it all the time”.
It was also alleged that he agreed a £400,000 deal to use his role as England manager to represent a company in the Far East and be a speaker at events.
Allardyce also criticised Hodgson and Gary Neville during the sting operation organised by reporters from the Telegraph.
To this day, Allardyce holds the record for England’s shortest serving full-time manager.
