Sam Allardyce has stated that he doesn’t think Rangers boss Steven Gerrard will join Newcastle United, as he told talkSPORT (04/11/21 at 7:50 am).
The survival expert questioned ‘why’ Gerrard would leave the comfort of his job at Rangers for the ‘trials and tribulations’ of Newcastle.
Rangers won the Scottish Premiership title last season and they are currently sitting top of the tree during these early stages.
Whilst the former midfielder is thriving up in Scotland, it does seem as though, one day, he will find his way back to England’s top-flight.
Many feel, if his success continues, then he might just be the replacement for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool and that would be some story.
Allardyce feels that Gerrard is destined to come back to England, but not with Newcastle, right at this minute.
“I don’t think Steven, at this stage, would leave Rangers, where they are top of the league winning every week to fight at the bottom of the Premier League,” said Allardyce.
“And the Premier League is a massive exciting league that everyone wants to manage in across the world.
“I presume he would want to get here someday. Why leave Rangers who are winning every week to the trials and tribulations of Newcastle, even though they have got money?
“They can’t spend it that quick because of financial fair play.”

Whilst one Englishman in Gerrard isn’t going to take to the St James’ Park hot seat, it does seem as though another in Eddie Howe will now take charge, as reported by Sky Sports.
After what happened with Unai Emery, the Toon Army faithful won’t be counting their chickens yet, until they officially see him holding up their colours.
But if Howe does come in, then he is an upgrade on Steve Bruce, no doubt.
He has Premier League experience, especially battling down the bottom, his attacking style suits this Newcastle side and he has worked with some of the current players.
Two of them are Ryan Fraser and Callum Wilson – the latter being the most important because he is the one who will be scoring the goals to try and keep the club up.
