Having been sacked by AC Milan could Vincenzo Montella have just been presented as the ideal choice as next Everton manager?

The search for a permanent successor to Ronald Koeman as Everton manager has rumbled into a sixth week as results on the pitch continue to falter.
David Unsworth has been in caretaker charge since the sacking of Koeman on October 23, but since then the Toffees have lost five of their seven matches in all competitions – the most recent a 4-1 humbling by Southampton in the Premier League.

It is a run that leaves the club just two points outside the relegation zone and eliminated from the Europa League and Carabao Cup, but still no new boss has been found.
Unsworth had been the favourite, but the performances under his tenure make that highly unlikely now, Watford have knocked back an approach for Marco Silva while having already distanced himself from the job once, Sam Allardyce is now once again leading the way – according to the Express.
However, is there someone recently fired himself who could actually be the perfect, if somewhat leftfield, choice for the Merseysiders in Vincenzo Montella?
Montella was dismissed from his position at AC Milan on Monday (November 27) with the Serie A club in seventh place and 18 points behind leaders Napoli.

Hardly a rousing commendation of his talents, but then the 43-year-old was working with a new look squad at the San Siro and his past managerial record is actually what could make him the ideal fit at Goodison Park.
During three years at Fiorentina, Montella guided the team to three fourth place finishes, the final and semi-finals of the Coppa Italia and the semi-finals of the Europa League. More importantly, the Italian did it with a team that was packed full of creative midfielders that he managed to fit into a system and get the best out of.
Sound familiar? Part of Everton’s problem has been a perceived abundance of number tens and not enough width and strikers, but with La Viola that was the foundation for Montella’s success. Now all he needs to do is learn English.
