Miller has played 252 games over three spells at Ibrox and his experience could prove invaluable to a new-look squad.
With Rangers planning to resume their long-running battle with Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, few would have expected that 36-year-old veteran Kenny Miller would still be a major part of Mark Warburton’s plans going forward.
The former Scotland international may not find the back of the net on such a regular basis these days, with one league goal since October, but Rangers have turned to the past in order to improve their chances of a bright future.
It’s no coincidence that Joe Garner’s finest displays in the royal blue have Rangers have come with Millar linking up and finding space behind him.

The wilful-running targetman publically admitted his difficulty in adapting to Warburton’s passing philosophy after years honing his trade in the whiplash-inducing English lower leagues but the introduction of Miller into a number 10 role off the front has allowed The Gers to alternate between passing through the lines and playing to Garner’s strengths via direct balls from deep.
The former Preston North End battering ram departed the Ibrox turf to a standing ovation after Rangers’ 2-0 win against Hearts, with Miller proving the perfect foil for a player who many had already written off.
Warburton describes his evergreen striker as “outstanding” in an interview with the Glasgow Evening Times while claiming earlier in the week that age would not come into consideration when deciding whether to offer the 36-year-old a new deal.

Miller has proved that it is just a number after all.
In his third spell at Ibrox, Miller has seen it all and done just as much. Therefore, with Rangers’ young squad still yet to fully acclimatise to life at the top of the Scottish game, the experience and quality of the 69-time capped international could have a galvanising impact on the club’s next generation.
