Rangers’ rise back to the top has been a great story, but the fairtytale ending is not destined to end in success this year.

Following their demotion from the Scottish Premier League a few years ago, many people were wondering if Rangers Football Club would ever regain their status as one of the top sides in Scotland. Thankfully they have managed to claw their way back into a solid position, situated just behind rivals Celtic in the league table.

But unfortunately, going that one step further this season is just too much of an ask. Brendan Rodgers has turned this Celtic side into one that will do anything to win, and their commanding lead atop the table with games still in hand is a worrying sight for the Rangers faithful.

Given their first Old Firm meeting this year coupled with the overall strength of Rodgers’ men, fans need to accept that winning the title is one bridge too far. But then again, maybe that’s a good thing for their overall growth as a club.

Having another year to rebuild and analyse how to structure their side in order to win the league could be a blessing in disguise. Under Mark Warburton they have a smart, efficient manager who won’t panic under pressure and knows what it takes to turn things round.

Now alot of Rangers supporters will already know alot of this information, but there’s always that glimmer of hope among any fan that your team can do the unthinkable. Either way, they should be proud of what they have accomplished.
