While he has not yet kicked a ball in Light Blue, the Ibrox side are already indebted to the former England international.
It’s a decade since the 34-year-old earned his first shot at the English Premier League with Everton, having missed the entirety of Wolves’ 2003-04 season through injury.
A standout performer in the Black Country club’s intervening Championship campaigns, Lescott was sought by the Toffees as a youthful alternative to ageing pair Alan Stubbs and David Weir – the Gers’ assistant manager.
Though Stubbs survived the Brummie centre-back’s arrival, Weir was not so fortunate. And within six months his contract was terminated, paving the way for his move to Rangers.
Though 36 at the time, the former Scotland international went on to feature regularly over the proceeding four-and-a-half seasons at Ibrox, helping the Gers to eight major trophies in total.
Were Lescott to win half as much silverware as his former teammate did for Rangers, it would be a good move indeed.
