Queens Park Rangers boss Ian Holloway has suggested he may have to cut costs this summer.
According to the Daily Mail, Southampton midfielder Harrison Reed is keen to secure a loan move away from St. Mary’s this summer.
Reed has barely featured for Southampton’s first-team this season, and has played just 62 minutes in the Premier League.
The midfielder has now reached the age of 22, and although he is still highly regarded at Southampton, there is a feeling that he needs to experience regular action if he is to fulfil his potential.
The Saints are loathed to lose him on a permanent deal, but could be willing to loan Reed out.
And that could suit Queens Park Rangers, who are not thought to have a great deal of funds to spend.
QPR boss Ian Holloway has suggested that the next two transfer windows will be about reducing costs at Loftus Road, with departures to be expected.
Reeds’ arrival at QPR could, therefore, be pivotal – as it would provide them with quality, while keeping costs down.
QPR may not have to burden Reeds’ full wages, which are unlikely to be too expensive anyway, making the transfer look worthwhile for all parties in the summer.
