Barry Douglas scored one of the free-kicks of the season so far as Wolves hammered Leeds United at Molineux on Tuesday.

Wolverhampton Wanderers were understandably effusive in their praise for left-back Barry Douglas after his stunning free-kick set them on their way to a 4-1 thrashing of Leeds United on Tuesday.
Signing from Turkish side Konyaspor for just £1 million, the ‘Scottish Roberto Carlos’ has been just one of a variety of success stories for the high-flying Midlanders this season.
In total, Douglas has scored twice and set up a further six in 11 Championship starts – a really impressive tally that has fans wondering where the 28-year-old has been hiding all this time.
In stark contrast, Leeds United were forced to field the under-fire Gaetano Berardi at left-back once more – the right-footed Swiss simply the best of a bad bunch.

Since Leeds lost Charlie Taylor to Burnley in the summer, no one has looked like stepping up to replace the 23-year-old in Thomas Christiansen’s starting XI. The versatile Vurnon Anita is a stop-gap at best while Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has barely been seen since arriving on loan from rivals Manchester United.

But considering that Wolves paid just £1 million for arguably the division’s best left-back, who is not even a client of super-agent Jorge Mendes, Leeds fans may wonder how the former Dundee United ace didn’t show up on their club’s radar.
Director of Football Victor Orta has come under fire for signing cheap, imported players with no Championship experience. But Douglas would have been one gamble that could have paid off handsomely.
