Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Michail Antonio has been discussing the managerial situation at Leeds United and Marcelo Bielsa.
The Argentine was, of course, sacked by Leeds this time last year, but despite his dismissal in 2022, there is some talk about him returning in 2023.
The South American has been linked with a return, and Antonio believes that it wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world to bring him back, stating that the fanbase would love it and that the club aren’t on bad terms with Bielsa either.

Bring Bielsa back
Antonio spoke about the former Leeds boss.
“They brought in someone who basically was Bielsa. He played just like him, it was slightly adapted. The fans love Bielsa so why not go back? If the fanbase want him back and the club didn’t dislike him either. You never know? He might come back and do well for them,” Antonio said.
Huge lift
Marcelo Bielsa may not be the best man for Leeds going forward. After all, he took them to the brink of relegation last season, but he would surely keep them in the Premier League this term.
Indeed, while Bielsa may not have all of the answers to Leeds’ problems, one has to imagine that he’d give the club enough of a lift to stay out of trouble this season.
Think about it, the Elland Road crowd would be turned up to 11 every single week if Bielsa was back in the dugout, and that’s worth an extra six or seven points between now and the end of the season.
Leeds may well want to bring Bielsa back on a short-term deal and then regroup heading into next season.
