‘Why not?’: Agent discusses three clubs who would ‘benefit’ from signing Arsenal man

A move to Serie A may be an option for Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil, agent Dr Erkut Sogut told Tuttomercatoweb when quizzed about a potential move to Juventus or AC Milan.

It says a lot about how far Ozil’s stock has fallen that, with the World Cup winner crying out for a fresh start away from North London, he continues to be linked with the Fenerbahces and the DC Uniteds of the world rather than some of the biggest institutions in Italian football.

Maybe that has something to do with those infamous £350,000-a-week wages; a pay-packet that serves to scare away all but the most deep-pocketed of clubs with even Juventus being hit hard by an ongoing financial crisis.

But, with the January transfer window just two weeks away, could Ozil be offered an escape route out of North London by one of three Scudetto challengers?

“”Maybe one day, why not? Serie A is a great league and I’m sure these teams could benefit from Mesut Ozil’s skills. A pure number 10; many Italian clubs play with a player in that role,” Sogut said when asked about a possible switch to Juventus, Inter or AC Milan.

“Of course, there are many clubs interested in signing him. This has never changed but his willingness to honor his contract (which expires next summer) and play hasn’t changed either.

“He’s a man of his word, loyal, and loyalty is hard to find in these times.”

With Arsenal drawing a blank for the sixth time in their last eight Premier League matches during Sunday’s 1-0 home defeat to Burnley, the embattled Mikel Arteta suggested that Ozil might just be offered an opportunity to come in from the cold in January (Mail).

The former Real Madrid star was left out of Arsenal’s 25-man domestic squad at the start of the season; a decision that apparently came as a ‘surprise’ to Sogut.
