With Alex Neil supposedly on the verge of getting the sack, it’s time to look at why Norwich City should consider holding on to him.
Norwich City have been on a bit of a rollercoaster under Alex Neil. One promotion and one relegation has seen them right back where they started, but there is something so fascinating about how Neil just gets his head down and focuses on the task ahead.
He doesn’t bother with complicating things in the media or worrying about his future, it’s all about the present. In some ways, he echoes Sir Alex Ferguson from his younger days in that he built a foundation in Scotland then moved to England in order to make a name for himself.
Like Fergie, Neil is on the verge of a sacking early on in his tenure. But if their victory at the weekend taught us anything, it’s that the Canaries are more than up for the fight in this division.

Now that Neil has the experience of a season in the top flight, he seems like the kind of manager who would be able to adapt to his surroundings and learn from the mistakes that Norwich made the first time round.
It’s not exactly a certainty that he is destined for success, but so far during his time at Carrow Road the former Hamilton boss has soaked up all the knowledge around him and turned it into pure gold on the pitch. Whether or not that continues is another story entirely, but giving him the time that wasn’t afforded to the likes of Neil Adams will be crucial to his future.
