It is no surprise that Norwich fans are already talking about promotion back to the top flight, but they also need to look at the big picture.

Norwich City fans are jubilant following their strong start to the 2016/17 Championship campaign, but overconfidence is something that is always on the horizon for supporters of successful sides.
With a number of promotions and relegations in recent years it is not surprising that they would come to expect some form of drama, however they need to avoid getting ahead of themselves.
As we all know their start to the season has been exemplary. They are second in the table with a game in hand and just one league loss to their name, in addition to a thoroughly impressive 2-0 League Cup win over Premier League side Everton.
So what is the problem? The problem is the quality of opposition they have faced. You could argue that the best side in terms of ability they have faced this season has been Birmingham, and their trip to St Andrew’s ended in a 3-0 loss. You could say that was an anomaly, but the same could also be said of their comfortable win over Everton.

In the next week the Canaries will travel to St James’ Park and Molineux to face two of the best sides in the league. Those games will be the true test of just how far this current streak can take them as the season goes on.
The Championship is also well known for testing people. A side can go on an eight-game winning streak then the next minute get taken apart by a team who are second bottom. The old saying of anyone can beat anyone could not be more true in the second tier, and as they continue to win more games and think they are going to stroll to promotion Norwich will get a target on their back.
Teams will go to Carrow Road with a chip on their shoulder, wanting to knock off the in-form side in the division. They have to be prepared for that and the fans do too.
