Jozo Simunovic is being linked with a move away from Celtic this summer.

Lille appear to be genuinely interested in Celtic’s Jozo Simunovic.

The Scottish Sun claimed last week that the Ligue 1 side were readying a £5 million bid for the Hoops centre-back.

Now, Lille boss Christophe Galtier has publicly admitted his interest in the 24-year-old, but speculation about one of his players indicates that Celtic shouldn’t sell for £5 million.

Say what you want about Simunovic, but he has been one of the Bhoys’ best players since Neil Lennon took the reins in February and, at 24, he’s going to get far better.

That’s just one reason why Celtic shouldn’t be accepting £5 million for him. Another is that Lille could have an eye-watering £70 million at their disposal soon.

According to The Sun, Manchester United are in talks to sign Nicolas Pepe for that amount, which is set to give the French side one hell of a war chest.

And if Celtic sell for one-fourteenth of that then questions should definitely be asked of chief executive Peter Lawwell, who should be asking for a bit more; not only because Simunovic is worth it, but because Lille will have it to spend.
