Newcastle United will be hoping Aleksandar Mitrovic scores at the World Cup as it will drive the striker’s valuation beyond £20million.
Newcastle United are likely to be cheering on Serbia when they face Switzerland in their second World Cup match on Friday.
More specifically, they will be willing Aleksandar Mitrovic to score for the Serbs, as that could greatly help them in the transfer market.
That is because the Chronicle reports a goal for Mitrovic in Russia would make the Magpies confident they could then receive more than £20m for the striker.

It is already clear the 23-year-old does not have a future at St James’ Park under manager Rafa Benitez and Fulham are keen to sign the forward permanently following their promotion to the Premier League.
Mitrovic spent the latter half of last season on loan at Craven Cottage and greatly impressed with 12 Championship goals in 20 appearances as the West Londoners went up via the playoffs.
However, it is something of a catch-22 situation for Newcastle as although they want the Serbian to do well at the World Cup and score, they know that his future will not be resolved until his country are knocked out of the competition.
And with Benitez heavily relying on the funds raised by the sale of current players before being able to buy new ones, the Spaniard is likely to want that to happen sooner rather than later.
