Liverpool interested in PSG goalkeeper Kevin Trapp but could a loan to Newcastle actually be best for all involved?
Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Kevin Trapp waves as he warms up prior to the French L1 football match against Troyes.
Newcastle United have turned their attention to Paris Saint-Germain as their search for a new goalkeeper continues, with the Daily Mail claiming they are interested in Kevin Trapp.
Trapp has barely featured for PSG this season, playing just three times in all competitions, with manager Unai Emery preferring Alphonse Areola between the sticks.
Rafael Benitez, manager of Newcastle United, looks on prior to The Emirates FA Cup Third Round match against Luton Town.
Magpies manager Rafa Benitez is keen to find a new stopper during the January transfer window and believes a loan move for Trapp could be the ideal solution.
This is after being knocked back in his pursuit of Manchester City’s Joe Hart, with David Moyes preferring the England international to see out his season long loan at West Ham United. Kiko Casilla of Real Madrid is also on the radar.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp arrives for the English FA Cup third round football match against Everton.
Trapp has recently been linked with another Premier League club in Liverpool, with French publication Le 10 Sport claiming Jurgen Klopp was willing to give the 27-year-old a chance following comments from the ‘keeper’s agent, Jorg Neubauer, claiming he wanted to leave Paris.
However, a temporary switch to Newcastle could actually be a good thing for the Reds, with them being able to watch the German play consistently in the top tier of English football before deciding if they want to make a bid for him in the summer.
