Whilst the new owners have not settled in as brilliantly as some had hoped at Molineux, there’s still cause for optimism.
Upon hearing the news that they were being taken over, Wolverhampton Wanderers fans could barely contain their excitement. There was talks of world class players coming to the club, a new manager and all kinds of incentives to create a feel good atmosphere at Molineux for the first time in a long time.
However, it hasn’t gone quite as smoothly as that. With the parade of new players being brought in causing a debate over rotation and Walter Zenga being sacked early on in the season, the first impressions weren’t great.

But with that being said, the introduction of Paul Lambert has created an immediate change of pace. Owners Fosun seem to be dedicated to the cause at Molineux and are focused on turning the team into a success, even choosing to spend half the year in Wolverhampton. As with any new business it takes time to settle in, and their cautious nature in the January transfer window thus far shows improvement.

Meanwhile when you look back to the last regime with Moxey and Morgan, fans believed that their interests varied. For example, the decision to expand Molineux’s capacity as opposed to increasing transfer budgets and focusing on the talent on the pitch was heavily criticised. It had been a long time coming for fans to see a different strategy implemented, so right now anything is considered an improvement to hem.
There’s still a long way to go, but hindsight is a wonderful thing right now for the Molineux faithful.
