After Brendan Rodgers’ pursued Lewis Morgan in early 2018, his eventual arrival at Celtic ended up a disappointment.

Morgan was barely used by Celtic in the first half of the season, before being sent out on loan to Sunderland.

Rodgers’ exit will give Morgan a fresh chance in the summer, and a permanent appointment for Neil Lennon could work in his favour.

This is because Lennon is on record stating he wanted to sign Morgan for Hibernian, just two months ago.

Lennon told The Scottish Sun: “Lewis is a player that we like but we’ll probably be in a queue with many clubs.”

Celtic's new interim manager Neil Lennon is unveiled at Celtic Park on February 27, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Morgan chose to rejoin his former St Mirren boss Jack Ross at Sunderland until the end of the season.

If Lennon lands the job permanently at Celtic, Morgan’s future will be in his hands.

Having a manager at Celtic who believes in him could make all the difference to the 22-year-old.

Lennon has a long way to go to earn the Celtic job on a permanent basis. If he does, Morgan will be one of the winners.
