Carlos Carvalhal’s side have been pursuing loan deals for both Premier League stars on deadline day.

Sky Sports reports that Swansea City are in discussions with Leicester City over a deal to sign Andy King on loan until the end of the season.

The Welsh outfit are looking for reinforcements in midfield after allowing summer signing Roque Mesa to return to Spain this month with Sevilla.

King has served Leicester superbly for over a decade, clocking up 374 appearances for the Foxes across three different divisions, but the 29-year-old has only made five Premier League starts this campaign.

Lazar Markovic of Liverpool looks on from the bench during a pre-season friendly match between Tranmere Rovers and Liverpool at Prenton Park on July 12, 2017 in Birkenhead, England.

Another name Swansea have been linked with on transfer deadline day is Lazar Markovic, with the Daily Mail claiming that they are competiting with Wolfsburg for the Liverpool outcast.

However, it appears as though Carlos Carvalhal’s side may have admitted defeat in their pursuit of the 23-year-old winger, as they woud not be allowed to sign both him and King in this window.

Premier League regulations allow clubs to register only two loan players from divisional rivals, and Swansea already have Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham on their books.

Tammy Abraham of Swansea shoots at goal during the Carabao Cup Fourth Round match between Swansea City and Manchester United at Liberty Stadium on October 24, 2017 in Swansea, Wales.

The 20-year-old returned from injury to take his place on the bench for Tuesday’s 3-1 win over Arsenal and could contribute some crucial goals in Swansea’s relegation battle.

There is no chance that Carvalhal will send Abraham back to Stamford Bridge, but the Swans probably could have done with a winger in the mould of Markovic, rather than another central midfielder like King.
