Bryan Gil is set to leave Tottenham on loan once again this summer, after a spell at Valencia – and Jose Mourinho’s Roma is perfect for the Spurs man. Reports say Spurs want Gil to join a side with European football next term.
Gil, 21, joined Tottenham last summer but registered just one assist and failed to score in 20 games for the London club. He moved to Valencia in January on Antonio Conte’s blessing, and has since become a fan favourite.

Reports this week claim that Valencia have looked to renew Gil’s loan for the 2022-23 campaign. However, Tottenham have informed Valencia that he will not be rejoining the La Liga side – and give an understandable reason.
They claim that Spurs would rather have Gil on loan at a club in European competition. Valencia finished in ninth in La Liga, failing to do so. Jose Mourinho’s Roma, meanwhile, have just qualified for the Europa League.
Why Mourinho’s Roma is perfect for Tottenham man Gil, after Valencia
Of the clubs from Spain that have qualified for Europe – Barcelona, Madrid and Atletico Madrid are too good for Gil. Sevilla will hardly bring him back to the club. Real Betis might take a chance – but he might struggle to start.
Sociedad are also in Europe. That would be a solid move for Gil. But Spurs would surely prefer him to join a side that play a similar system to Spurs, under Antonio Conte. In Italy, Mourinho uses three at the back for Roma.
They won the Conference League, qualifying for the Europa League – which they had already done with a sixth-placed finish in Serie A. Similar system, strong connections with Mourinho and the Europa League – perfect for Gil.
