Mario Gotze has been linked to Tottenham, but are Liverpool the club he should really be seeking a transfer to?

Mario Gotze’s future remains the subject of speculation after reports emerged this weekend linking him with a surprise transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.
German newspaper Bild reported Spurs have made contact with Bayern Munich over a move, after the playmaker had a disappointing season, despite winning another title winner’s medal.

Tottenham could be a smart move for the 24-year-old, especially with head coach Mauricio Pochettino’s track record of player development.
Yet his potential success at Spurs is less of a certainty than it would be at Liverpool, under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp.
Jurgen Klopp and Mario Gotze
Klopp was responsible at Borussia Dortmund for helping to turn Mario Gotze into the most coveted talent in German football.
He was part of a successful team which won trophies, and he played a prominent role in the side, far more so than his recent contribution at Bayern Munich.
Klopp could help get Gotze back to his best, and form an outstanding front line competing with the likes of Roberto Firmino, Coutinho and Sadio Mane.

Spurs can offer Champions League football while Liverpool cannot, but Gotze should look long-term, and consider that Klopp is the manager he needs to put his trust in over the next few seasons.
He walked out on his mentor infamously to join Bayern in 2013, and has never quite looked like the same player since.
Can Pochettino help him re-discover the magic? May be, but Klopp already knows the formula.
