The Benfica defender would be the perfect addition for Liverpool.
Despite adding two new centre-backs to his squad last summer, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp still has work to do to sufficiently strengthen his back line.
Joel Matip is the real deal but Ragnar Klavan has been hit-and-miss to date, while the jury is out on Dejan Lovren despite his upturn in form since Klopp’s arrival at Anfield.

The truth is neither player possesses the quality needed to form the perfect partnership with Matip and while Joe Gomez will ultimately blossom into a fine centre-back, Liverpool may have to spend big again in the close season – while also strengthening in other key areas.
If Liverpool want to instantly transform their defence – and frustrate some of their biggest Premier League rivals in the process – they would be wise to bid big for Benfica centre-back Victor Lindelof.

For now the Sweden international remains with the Portuguese club. However it would be no surprise to see him move on this summer and Liverpool would pull off a masterstroke if they can get him to Anfield.

The 22-year-old is a powerful, composed, hugely talented defender who, alongside Matip, would turn the Reds into contenders both domestically and in Europe.

He would not come cheap, but Liverpool have the money and in this case they should spend it.
