Reports from Brazil claim that Palmeiras midfielder Allan Elias is closing in on a move to Anfield, with talks said to be progressing between the two clubs.
Liverpool have not traditionally targeted players from Brazil, but that approach could be shifting after recent Premier League successes like Murillo and Estevao Willian.
Reports from South America suggest that the Reds are closing in on a deal after recognising Allan as a standout young talent.
Although these reports have not been confirmed yet, HITC spoke with Brazilian football journalist Filipe Guedes to get some insight into what Liverpool supporters might expect if Allan does make the switch.
Allan’s versatility sets him apart

Palmeiras have developed a reputation for producing some of the best young talent in Brazil over the last few years, with players like Endrick, Vitor Reis and Estevao all moving to top European clubs.
While Guedes does not see Allan reaching the same level as those three, he does believe his versatility gives him an edge.
“After Endrick, Vitor Reis and Estevao, Allan is the latest Palmeiras academy product to establish himself in Abel Ferreira’s starting XI,” the journalist began by saying.
“He doesn’t seem as talented as those other names, which explains why he is expected to move to Europe at an older age than his former teammates, but those comparisons shouldn’t overshadow his quality.
“Playing on the right-wing, Allan was Palmeiras’ standout player in the last months of 2025. He is strong, fast, versatile (can play on both wings, attacking midfielder and even as a central midfielder), skilful and – unlike many other youngsters – he seems ‘tactically mature’, someone also active off the ball.”
Having only played 64 games for Palmeiras so far, Allan is not likely to walk straight into Liverpool’s starting line-up. But Guedes thinks he could still be a useful option for Arne Slot next season.
“I don’t believe Allan would quickly cement his place as a Liverpool starter, even if Mo Salah departs, but he would undoubtedly be a good addition as a squad player, especially due to his versatility.”
Harvey Elliott comparisons begin to take shape
Fans will be buzzing at the thought of another promising Brazilian talent coming into the squad, especially given the club’s recent interest in markets they haven’t always explored.
While some might be hoping for a player in the mould of Vinicius, Rodrygo, or Estevao, Guedes draws a different comparison, one closer to Anfield: Harvey Elliott.
“I can’t think of a Brazilian youngster with similar traits to Allan right now, and people could kill me for what I’m going to say, but I can see some similarities between him and Harvey Elliott.
“However, he has clear physical edges over Elliott: he is taller, stronger, has no concerning injury record and is more aggressive. Those differences could play a huge part in a potential Premier League move.”
Elliott’s loan departure was a blow for many supporters. The idea that Allan could offer something even more dynamic will only add to expectations. But landing him won’t be straightforward or cheap.
“Palmeiras plans a revenue of around £57m from player sales this year, so Allan’s departure is likely. However, they reportedly rejected a £35m bid from Napoli, so it wouldn’t be a cheap transfer.”
