LIV Golf may have just been handed a big boost ahead of the 2026 season, though it might not feel like one right now.
The sport is still split, with the rivalry between the PGA Tour and LIV showing no signs of letting up.
The PGA Tour holds a clear advantage, while LIV has had trouble persuading top players to switch over.
Brooks Koepka’s decision to leave the league in December only made things tougher for LIV.
LIV’s response to these challenges has started to take shape.
Rather than going after top names, they are focusing on steady, reliable players to boost their field depth. One potential signing fitting that mould appears to have slipped through their fingers.
LIV Golf’s deal for Max Greyserman reportedly falls apart

Max Greyserman was reportedly in talks to join LIV Golf, but according to X account Flushing It, the deal has fallen through.
Reports had surfaced that LIV Golf offered the 30-year-old an ‘eight-figure’ contract. But it appears negotiations broke down late in the process.
While it may not seem like good news at first glance, this could actually work out better for LIV in the long run.
Greyserman is a solid player, but he is not a major draw. That is exactly what LIV need right now – someone who can move the needle and bring attention back to their side of golf.
The Saudi-backed circuit needs more high-profile names if they are going to compete with the PGA Tour and boost their dwindling viewership.
Signing mid-tier talent might help fill out fields, but it will not solve their larger issues around relevance and audience engagement.
LIV turn to internal options after Max Greyserman deal falls through
With the move for Greyserman off the table, LIV have instead opted to bring back one of their existing players for another year.
Ben Campbell has agreed to return for a second season with RangeGoats GC.
The 34-year-old managed just one top-10 finish in 2025 and has not yet made a significant impact on the circuit.
But even so, he has shown himself to be a steady performer and will be aiming to build on that with improved results next year.
For LIV, though, the real challenge remains bringing in a headline signing from the PGA Tour. It is something they desperately need if they want to shift perception and draw more interest.
Whether or not they can pull it off is still an open question.
