Why Lewis Cook is the best passer at Leeds United despite the stats

Lewis Cook is arguably the best passer at Leeds United despite being ranked fourth in the list.

Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn is blessed in terms of the variety of players he has available in his first team squad at Elland Road.

Redfearn played a key role in creating a sustainable academy system, which has supplied his first team regularly with good young players, while the club has also recruited well from foreign leagues.

Leeds are at their very best when they are able to control and dictate possession, which is easier for them when they have players who can pass the ball accurately.

Tommaso Bianchi has been the club’s best player in terms of accurate passes this season, followed by defenders Stephen Warnock and Sam Byram.

The reason that trio top the list is possibly because they all have defensive roles in the team and play plenty of short and simple passes between each other as well as with the goalkeeper, when Leeds contain things at the back.

Arguably the most impressive player on the list is Lewis Cook, who features highly despite being only 17-years-old and playing fewer minutes than the top two.

Cook also plays a key midfield role for Leeds, protects possession and has to play a variety of more complicated and difficult passes.

There were talks over a new deal for the teenager earlier this week and if those reports were accurate, the club need to tie him down quickly before a rival comes into the equation and poaches him away.
