The Wigan Athletic player would be a sensible addition to Leeds United’s squad.

While Leeds United have one of the best centre-back pairings in the Championship in the form of Pontus Jansson and Kyle Bartley, the future of the latter is not yet secure while questions remain over backup option Liam Cooper.

Given his progress at Elland Road, it would be no surprise if Bartley follows Jansson in committing his long-term future to the Whites, but even if all three remain Leeds need additional strength in that area of the field.

Jansson’s passionate play means he will collect bookings – and subsequently suspensions – in any given season and whether or not Leeds earn promotion back to the top flight next season strength in depth will be vital.

With no notable young defender coming through the ranks at Elland Road right now, Leeds would be wise to consider a move for Wigan Athletic player Dan Burn.

The Latics’ struggles this season are not indicative of the 24-year-old’s ability and Leeds could be the club to finally allow Burn to fulfil his potential.

Fulham's Dan Burn

Once hailed as the next big thing while at Fulham, Burn’s career has faltered somewhat since. However he could do a great job for Leeds and is certainly a better option than Cooper when fit and on form.

He has experience of both the Championship and the Premier League and with a point to prove and a few years until he reaches his peak, he could be the perfect summer addition for Leeds whatever their focus.
