The young midfielder is said to be on Leeds United’s radar.

Thomas Christiansen manager of Leeds United looks on before the Carabao Cup Third Round match between Burnley and Leeds United at Turf Moor on September 19, 2017 in Burnley, England.

According to a recent report from the print edition of the Sun (17/09/2017 page 63), Leeds United are planning a January raid for young midfielder Emiliano Buendia, but the Whites should be no rush to bring the 20-year-old to Elland Road.

After all, the youngster is currently on loan at Cultural Leonesa – a club Leeds know well having recently agreed a partnership that will aid player development – so the Whites do not need to rush through a deal for Buendia when he is already playing week in, week out for a potential feeder club for Thomas Christiansen’s men.

Buendia is on a season-long loan from Getafe, for whom he has turned out 37 times to date, and if he moved to Leeds mid-season it would mean tearing up that agreement, which makes little sense at this stage of the player’s development.

There is also the fact that Leeds already possess some brilliant attacking midfielders, with Samu Saiz and Pablo Hernandez excelling in the early weeks of the campaign.

With others struggling to get sufficient game time, taking Buendia out of Cultural’s starting XI only to see him struggle for minutes at Elland Road is pointless.

If Leeds are genuinely interested, they should simply sit back and watch his progress at Cultural, knowing they could still have an advantage if he does ultimately become available.

With one goal and four assists in just six appearances for his loan club, that is the best place for him for now, with Leeds waiting in the wings next summer when they could be an even more enticing prospect if they achieve promotion come May.
