Leeds United would benefit greatly from having Steven Pienaar amongst their squad.
Steven Pienaar is available on a free after his release from Everton
Leeds United have been a club in turmoil over the last decade, and especially so in the two-and-a-half years that Massimo Cellino has been in control at Elland Road.
There are, however, more positive vibes emanating from Leeds since the appointment of Garry Monk this summer, after he outlined his ambitious plans with the club.
Pienaar would be a fantastic signing for Leeds
The Liverpool Echo have already reported of Leeds’ interest in free agent Leon Osman following his release from Everton, but it is another player recently released by the Toffees who Monk should really be targeting.
Steven Pienaar has been a consistent performer in the Premier League for Everton and Tottenham since his arrival in England from Borussia Dortmund in 2007, and would make a fantastic acquisition for Leeds.
Pienaar has a wealth of experience at the top level
He would bring a touch of guile to the Elland Road outfit, and provide a goal threat from midfield that they do not currently possess.
The experience that the 34-year-old South African would bring would be invaluable, and is highlighted by his 246 appearances in English football, playing at the very highest level.
Whether or not Pienaar wold consider a move down to the Championship is another matter, but with Garry Monk in charge, the West Yorkshire outfit seem a far more stable club, and in turn a more attractive proposition.
The acquisition of the former Everton man would enhance Leeds’ promotion hopes greatly.
Would Garry Monk consider a move for Pienaar?
