Kenny Jackett has officially been appointed as the new manager of Rotherham United, and by all accounts it is a solid move.

Alan Stubbs’ time at Rotherham United finally ran out this week as he was sacked by the Yorkshire club following a dreadful start to the season.
The Millers have wasted no time in finding his replacement, as former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Kenny Jackett has been appointed as their new manager. In terms of who they could have chosen, there are not too many better options out there.
Throughout his entire managerial career Jackett has specialised in bringing stability to clubs and taking them out of tough, tricky situations. Whilst his style may not provide the most excitement, what he can do is form a convincing path to rehabilitation for teams in need of it.

Then again, he is also quite the expert when it comes to promotion from the lower leagues. We are not saying that he is going to lead Rotherham towards the top six, but he has experience in taking sides up from the third and fourth tier should relegation prove to be unavoidable this season.
He has done it with Swansea City, Millwall and Wolves, with all three benefiting from a promotion and a new, stable home in the Championship.
Whilst he might not necessarily excel at the highest level, what Jackett can do is steady the ship and steer teams away from the threat of relegation, and he could be just what Rotherham need.
