Kalvin Phillips has started to trend amongst Leeds fans on Twitter this week as those at Elland Road hatch a plan.
The England international has barely played this season after sealing a £45m move to Manchester City back in July.
Now – in an act of irony – Leeds fans are trying to get Kalvin Phillips recognised despite his lack of action.
What’s the story?
Well, Manchester City have somewhat foolishly left their Player of the Season vote open to the public.
As long as you make an account on the club’s official website – which is free of charge – you can select a choice for Player of the Season.
Unsurprisingly, Leeds fans have taken advantage of that to vote for Phillips in their thousands, as many in Yorkshire want their beloved academy graduate recognised despite the fact he hasn’t made a single start in the Premier League this season.
The 27-year-old has only made eight Premier League appearances for the Citizens this term, all of which have come as a substitute.
Pep Guardiola has preferred to use Rodri at the heart of his midfield rather than Phillips – known as the Yorkshire Pirlo amongst Leeds supporters.
Kalvin Phillips could already move again after 2022 Leeds exit
The Manchester City No.4 could already be leaving the Etihad Stadium after just one season.
90min believe West Ham are interested in bringing Phillips to east London as a replacement for Declan Rice.
Dean Jones has also told Give Me Sport that Newcastle are keen on securing his services.

Elsewhere – according to a confident claim from N1 – the midfield maestro is close to joining Aston Villa, who have targeted him since he was playing in the Championship with Leeds.
Hopefully, Phillips can turn things around and become a key player for Manchester City, but if not, he clearly won’t be short of options.
