Newcastle United brought in Joselu from Stoke City during the summer transfer window.
It’s fair to say that when Joselu’s move to Newcastle United was announced, the news was greeted with a fair amount of scepticism.
Joselu had scored nine goals in his last 42 appearances prior to a move to St. James’ Park, and his struggles at Stoke City hardly inspired confidence.
However, the Spanish striker is quickly casting aside any doubts over his quality, with his performances since signing for Newcastle.
Joselu has added a new dimension to Newcastle’s attack, and his performances have been a major reason behind Rafael Benitez’s side’s upturn in form.
Newcastle have won their last three matches in succession to break into the top four, and Joselu’s bustling approach has been key.
Joselu has given Newcastle a target to hit and, while Dwight Gayle may be a more clinical finisher, it seems that the former Real Madrid man is a better option for Benitez at this moment in time.
With Newcastle often playing on the back foot, Joselu’s hold up play has been crucial to bringing others in to play.
And although many didn’t see the worth in signing Joselu at the time, the 27-year-old is quickly proving that Rafael Benitez was correct to bring him to Tyneside.
