According to a recent report from the Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Manchester United winger Jesse Lingard and the player would be smart to seriously consider a move to White Hart Lane.

The England international has become a regular at Old Trafford but he is not in the starting XI when everyone is fit and available and his chances are likely to be increasingly limited with each passing transfer window.

United are going to strengthen again this summer, and while Lingard has proved his worth, making a habit of scoring at Wembley, he will know that at 24 he should be starting week in, week out in every competition.

Tottenham would offer him that chance, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side in desperate need of quality wide men with the ability to both score and create.

Lingard has that, as well as pace in abundance, and while there is no suggestion he wants to leave United, if he wants to start more often than not he may have to.

Tottenham are crafting a superb young side full of English talent and Lingard would be another savvy addition.

Few players leave United unless they are forced to. However Lingard would be making a brave and arguably sensible choice to reject the chance to sign a new deal and instead make a move to Tottenham in due course.
