Jack Hendry rejected approaches from Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Newcastle and West Ham to join Celtic during the January transfer window.
There was plenty of interest in Jack Hendry during the January transfer window before the defender eventually made the switch from Dundee to Celtic on deadline day.
Hendry stayed in the Scottish Premiership but did have options to return to England, where he had spent two years between 2015 and 2017 with Wigan Athletic.
The Daily Mail reported that Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and West Ham United had all sent scouts to watch the 22-year-old in action, but in the end the Hoops could offer him something that the Premier League quartet could not.
“There was a lot of interest from down south. But there was only one place I wanted to come and that was Celtic,” Hendry was quoted by the Daily Record.
The chance to play in the Champions League was the biggest lure, with the centre-back continuing: “That’s where you want to play, and why I came here to play on those stages.
“If I fulfil my ability that’s certainly somewhere that I will look to play, and that’s one of the reasons I came to play here.”
Hendry made his debut for Brendan Rodgers’ side during the shock 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock last weekend, having played 30 times for Dundee in the first half of the season.
The Scot is something of a late bloomer, having only made 26 senior appearances before this campaign for the likes of MK Dons, Patrick Thistle, Shrewsbury Town and Wigan.
