West Ham United are reportedly considering letting Matt Jarvis join Cardiff City.
Wales Online has reported Cardiff City are interested in trying to do a deal for West Ham United winger Matt Jarvis.
Their report touches on the fact he’s made just six appearances so far this season, as a reason for Sam Allardyce to let him leave but there is merit in the Hammers keeping him at the club for the rest of the season.
Jarvis is a genuine winger and offers West Ham something different out wide than what they already have.
Stewart Downing has recently been utilised in a central attacking role and it’s important for the side that they have different options in wide areas if Allardyce plans to start using Downing through the middle.
Jarvis is also an extremely quick player over the first five yards. He’s a good impact player to start in certain games or to use coming off the bench late on.
He may not be as refined as many fans would be hoping for from a West Ham player in terms of his final delivery but any player with pace is worth hanging onto because they push teams onto the back foot and make it difficult for defenders to get forward.
Letting him leave now would also put pressure on Allardyce to find a replacement which would give him the same sort of options before the transfer window slams shut.
Considering how difficult it is for clubs to do business in the middle of the season, it’s doubtful West Ham would be able to find a better player than Jarvis who is available and ready to move for a good price.
What he needs at West Ham is a chance and the only way he’s going to get that is if Allardyce keeps him at Upton Park and takes a risk.
