Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has told Gary Neville that he dislikes Liverpool more than Manchester City.
But when the right-back-turned-pundit told Marcus Rashford that his former teammates, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt, disliked Manchester City more than Liverpool, he responded with surprise and asked ‘why is that?’, as he told The Overlap.
The England speedster made it clear that, whilst he ‘doesn’t like any of them’, it’s Liverpool ‘all day’ that he dislikes the most.
Perhaps, in recent times, with Manchester City now rising to the top and recently winning the Treble, it could be understandable if the Manchester United fans pointed towards their neighbours as those who they hate the most.
But, because of the history and how it goes back decades and decades, in terms of challenging and battling at the top with one another, it has to be those on Merseyside.
Nonetheless, this is what Rashford had to say about it all when he was asked the question by former Old Trafford star and now-Salford co-owner, Neville.

“Who do you dislike more? Liverpool or Man City,” asked Neville to which Rashford responded: “Liverpool. I don’t like any of them. I dislike Liverpool more.”
Neville added: “It’s interesting that because I am Liverpool. But then, if you speak to Scholesy (Paul Scholes) or Butty (Nicky Butt), they say ‘City’.”
“Why is that,” asked a surprised Rashford.
Neville then responded: “I don’t know. I just thought it was them growing up nearer to Manchester. You are (also) Manchester.”
Rashford then added: “No, it’s Liverpool all day.”
Who finishes higher next season – Manchester United or Liverpool?
In recent years, the Reds have been adding trophies to their cabinet, including winning the lot under the stewardship of Jurgen Klopp.
But the previous campaign, whilst they had that stunning 7-0 win over Manchester United, was one to forget for Liverpool, who will be in the Europa League next season.
You can bet your bottom dollar that they will come roaring back during the upcoming season and they will be looking to push Erik ten Hag’s side outside of the top four, but of course, they will want to take the next step and now challenge for the title.
