Why is Ronaldo banned from playing? Many have asked this on Google as the Portugal international’s debut for Al-Nassr was put on hold.
The 37-year-old recently completed his £173m-a-year move to Saudi Arabia, although an incident after one of his final games for Manchester United has caused complications early on at Al-Nassr.
So, why is Ronaldo banned from playing? Let’s take a look…
Why is Ronaldo banned from playing?
Well, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner was furious after Manchester United suffered a 1-0 defeat to Everton in the Premier League back in April, and proceeded to take his anger out on a 14-year-old after the final whistle.
Ronaldo could be seen smacking a mobile phone out of a teenager’s hand as he walked back to the Goodison Park dressing rooms, with the Football Association (FA) finding him guilty of improper and violent conduct in November.
The new Al-Nassr No.7 was slapped with a £50,000 fine, something he probably isn’t too bothered about after penning a £173m-a-year deal, as well as a two-game ban.

However, Ronaldo was unable to serve that suspension in England as his contract with Manchester United was terminated just days later, so it now carries into his time at Al-Nassr.
Article 12.1 of FIFA’s Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players says: “Any disciplinary sanction of up to four matches or up to three months that has been imposed on a player by the former association but not yet (entirely) served by the time of the transfer shall be enforced by the new association at which the player has been registered in order for the sanction to be served at domestic level.”
When will Ronaldo play for Al-Nassr?
As a result of his two-match ban, Ronaldo will miss the Saudi Pro League clashes against Al-Ta’ee and Al-Shabab.
However, the Portuguese superstar will be available for the Saudi Pro League encounter with Ettifaq on January 22nd.

No matter what the result is, no footballer can act like this after a game, especially when a 14-year-old is involved.
Ronaldo has quite rightly been made to carry out the consequences of his actions – hopefully, he avoids further controversy over in Saudi Arabia.
