AFC Bournemouth have announced the completion of Bill Foley’s takeover of the Premier League club, with Michael B. Jordan also being named as a minority owner.
As per the Cherries’ official website, the American businessman had completed the takeover of Bournemouth for £120m as reported by the Atheltic, with Foley having extensive success in owning sports teams in the USA, most notably the NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights.
Yet Foley isn’t alone in his acquisition of Bournemouth, with Hollywood actor Michael B. Jordan being named a minority owner for the south coast Premier League side.
Why is Michael B. Jordan buying Bournemouth?

As mentioned, Jordan isn’t a full owner of Bournemouth but rather a minority stakeholder of the Cherries, with the club’s official statement stating: “The minority ownership group is led by award-winning actor, director and producer Michael B. Jordan and Nullah Sarker (The Players Tribune, Davis Cup).
“AFC Bournemouth is Michael’s first foray into professional sports ownership, as he and Nullah will work closely with Bill in areas including global marketing and internationalisation of the club.”
Jordan stands to be the third Hollywood actor to dip into the world of English football, with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney famously buying National League side AFC Wrexham in 2020.
Who is Michael B. Jordan and what has he been in?

An award-winning Hollywood actor, Michael B. Jordan is one of biggest names in cinema following breakout performances in Friday Night Lights, Chronicle and the Creed series.
Yet it is Black Panther where most audience members first became aware of Jordan’s talents, with the 35-year-old California-born actor playing the villain Killmonger in what is to this day one of Marvel’s most critically-acclaimed movies.
With the third and final Creed movie slated for release next year as well as working on a sequel to I Am Legend with Will Smith, exciting things are in the pipeline for Jordan, who can now add ‘Premier League club owner’ to his already incredible CV.
