The Greece international striker has been seemingly frozen out at The City Ground.
Nottingham Forest’s Apostolos Vellios celebrates scoring
Nottingham Forest striker Apostolos Vellios is facing an uncertain future at The City Ground, as it seems he is unwanted by current caretaker manager Gary Brazil.
Since Brazil took over from Philippe Montanier in mid January, the 25-year-old striker has played a grand total of two minutes, after he replaced Britt Assombalonga in Forest’s 2-0 win over Rotherham United on the 31st January.
Out of all the summer signings Forest made, Vellios is arguably the best of the bunch, and has scored six times for the Reds this campaign – including an incredible scissor kick against Rotherham in the 2-2 draw earlier this season.
Yet somehow, Brazil just doesn’t seem to fancy him at all – which is baffling quite a few Forest fans. Vellios is an excellent target man who’s proved himself in his first season for the club, yet can’t get a look in – and no-one really knows why.
Nottingham Forest’s Aspostolos Vellios scores their second goal
Forest’s much maligned style of play under Brazil has seen them take just one point from their past four matches, as the Reds try to escape relegation danger.
Considering Forest are 18th and just six points above the relegation zone, Brazil could do a lot worse than give Vellios more minutes on the pitch.
