Stephen Amell once got a message from Neymar in 2018, but the Arrow star didn’t respond until this past week!
By 2018, Neymar was one of the best players in the world and a rising name in pop culture. And having dabbled in Hollywood just a few years ago, Neymar thought he could reach out to someone who inspired him.
And that someone was Stephen Amell, star of the CW superhero show, Arrow. Unfortunately for Neymar, the man who played Oliver Queen didn’t see this message until years later.

On August 20th, 2018, Neymar sent Stephen Amell a DM on Instagram, telling him how much of a fan he was of him and his work on Arrow.
Amell didn’t see the message at the time, and there was no response. Fast forward eight years later, Amell, who is now partnered with Fox for his Baywatch reboot series, reached out.
Amell pointed out that he is working with Fox, who are the current rights holders for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Neymar is currently playing with Brazil. Amell invited him to meet him and Rio Ferdinand.
“Hey, bro. Just saw this. Thrilled you’re a big fan. Are you in the States? Let’s hang, just me and you. I’m in the new Baywatch series on Fox.
“You will love it. I’m currently with Rio Ferdinand. He hates you. Just kidding! He says you’re the king.”
Neymar makes plans to meet Stephen Amell after the World Cup
Neymar was flattered by the message, responding quickly to tell Amell that the two of them would meet once he was done with the tournament.
“Yes, I’m in the US for the World Cup! We’re staying in a hotel in Houston and can’t leave until the tournament ends.
“It would be a real pleasure to meet you. I followed your work on Arrow. It was amazing! Please give my love to Rio. That guy was incredible on the field.”
The two stars may have taken a long time to start conversing, but they seem to have formed a bond and connection fairly quickly.
Hopefully, the pair can meet each other once Neymar fulfils his obligations with the Brazilian national team at the FIFA World Cup.
