The England international has shown he can excel in a deeper role and this season he may do just that.
Tottenham’s Harry Kane celebrates scoring their first goal with a penalty
The second half of Friday’s friendly win over Inter Milan suggested that Spurs may have already found the perfect cover for the likes of Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli – in Harry Kane.
Spurs suffered in attack when the likes of Nacer Chadli and Heung-Min Son were drafted in as alternatives last season, but with new signing Vincent Janssen added to the equation and a slight reshuffling of the pack, the Lilywhites will enjoy a far greater ability to rotate with a far less damaging drop in quality during the coming campaign.
Tottenham’s Vincent Janssen
The Dutchman was brought on for Eriksen at half-time against Inter and led the line, with Harry Kane dropping slightly behind him. Dele Alli and Erik Lamela played as the inverted wingers and the quartet’s movement and interplay was a sight to behold.
Eriksen has often been criticised for drifting in and out of games and he will need to ensure he remains consistent if he is to keep his place in the first XI this season.

Harry Kane’s excellent passing range and devastating long-distance shooting ability has long-suggested he could excel in a slightly deeper role and with Janssen joining the fold, he will get plenty of opportunities to do so.
Mauricio Pochettino demands a fluid front four in attack and with Janssen and Kane in the team together, the fluidity is turned up a notch and defenders are left bewildered as to where to focus their attention.

The Dutch international’s arrival has not only provided cover and competition for Kane, but has laid down the gauntlet to the rest of Tottenham’s attackers to up their game or risk a spell on the sidelines.
Pochettino spoke recently about his desire to add more to his squad, and with N’Koudou set to be one of those additions, the Argentine will soon be spoilt for choice in attack.
